Bug in Wordpress with IE, su.pr, and facebook connect

So this is what happens: you set up a wordpress blog to post automatically to twitter, facebook, and stumbleupon via the supr plugin and API. It works great and is rather impressive (at least, it is by today’s standards).

There does seem to be some quirky incompatibility between Internet Explorer, the Stumbleupon web toolbar, and facebook connect.

Basically it goes like this: if someone is using internet explorer as their browser and they are logged into facebook and click through the short su.pr URL to get to your facebook connect enabled blog which had the stumbleupon toolbar enabled at the time the shortened URL was generated (presumably when the blog entry was posted), then the problem occurs. It also occurs if they are not logged into facebook but the stumbleupon web toolbar is present at the top of the screen, such as if they clicked on the shortened URL via twitter without being logged into facebook.

Essentially, the fbconnect plugin not only fails to log them in with their facebook credentials but it is persistent and keeps trying, resulting in the phenomenon that the page just keeps reloading and reloading about a dozen times until it finally gives up.

This blog post is an attempt at a posting with the web toolbar turned off inside the supr plugin. Hopefully that works, allowing su.pr shortened URLs in conjunction with fbconnect, otherwise it is going to be a tough choice between which one gets the axe.

Needless to say, there are no problems whatsoever in firefox and everything works great there. This is an IE only bug.

Art RIOT on Vliet St in Milwaukee this Saturday! DO NOT miss it!

artriotOnMilwaukee.com and The Times Cinema are putting together what will undoubtedly be Milwaukee’s premier art and music festival. Sponsored by 102.1FM, Pabst Blue Ribbon and the Harley-Davidson Museum, the entire 5900 block of West Vliet Street in Wauwatosa will be transformed into a high octane rock and roll art show. Working with galleries nationwide, Art Riot 09 will have works by some of the nation’s best rock poster and “low brow” artists.

In addition, there are over 40 local artists, bands, hot rods, custom bikes, food, drinks and more. Along with the national artists, there will be exhibits from more than three dozen local craftsmen and artists.

The Times Cinema will host the Milwaukee premiere of “American Artifact: The Rise Of American Rock Poster Art.” This film documents the rise of the current rock poster movement in America with a cast of quirky, interesting, and extremely talented artists along with their fans and some of the biggest names in music industry.

Later that evening, the Times Cinema’s stage will host musical performances from some of the Midwest’s best up and coming bands and DJs

By the way, while you’re coming to the art riot, be sure to bring in your computer for a FREE checkup or bring in that old computer for FREE recycling!
