When you bring your computer into one of our milwaukee area computer shops, we start out with a FREE checkup in order to assess what your computer needs in order to run well and do what you want it to do. This includes items such as physical inspection, assessing your needs, basic hardware diagnostic tests, check operating system and basic spyware/virus scans. If your computer passes the testing but is still just running a bit slow, and maybe is behind on updates, then a tune-up is what you are going to need.
A tune-up is not a repair or an upgrade service, but rather regular maintenance we recommend everyone does or has done to their computer frequently, in fact, the more often the better.
Our basic computer tune-up service includes the following:
- Computer checkup including visual inspection, basic hardware tests, operating system check, and virus scan (Note that resolving any problems or issues found with these items is not included with a tune-up service)
- Clean out temporary files left behind from normal computer use
- Cycle and throttle down system restore
- Get all current windows critical and security updates
- Update antivirus software (assumes
- Update JAVA to latest version and remove old versions
- Update Adobe Flash Player to latest version
- Update Adobe Reader to latest version
- Tweak Internet Explorer settings so web pages load faster
- Defragment primary hard drive partition
Please note that performing the tune-up does not include removing any viruses or fixing any problems found. It is just a series of maintenance items that helps the computer run faster and more securely on the internet. Most of our customers do their own computer tune-ups, however, many of them hire us to keep their computers running well too.
